This might be a weird post but I can’t stop being amazed by the level of intelligence of these nerdy theoretical physicists. Compared to these guys my maths level is really 0 to none. Even though I studied Finance and Economics and my top 3 highest grades during University were for Quantitative Methods courses I, II, and III. Despite this, I can barely understand any details of these lectures below. I do THINK however that I get the main ideas. And I also think anyone without any mathematical knowledge (but with a lot of patience and attention) could still grasp some of the ideas presented. And if you do, you will discover they are just mind boggling.
The End of Spacetime
The first video is a lecture of mister Arkani-Hamed and will either blow your mind or bore you to death. He is one of the leading scientist in the world trying to answer the question “What is the nature of our Universe?”. Here he speaks at SLAC (Stanford Linear Accelerator Center) in Melo Park, California. In this video he basically breaks down Einstein’s theories and shows how he developed his own notion of space and time.
Complexity and Gravity
Leonard Susskind is a guy from the South Bronx New York and you can clearly hear that when he speaks. He’s an incredible genius and has got a sense of humour to appreciate. He speaks here about the complexity (and the geometry of complexity) of the Universe and how it relates to gravity.
Multi-Verse
This video has influenced me quite a lot back in 2012. It was the first time that I saw someone visualizing the idea of a multiverse on the screen. Brian Greene is a great speaker and most people should be able to follow his awesome TED talk.
Brian Greene is a bit more popular and mainstream speaker compared to the hard core physics professors mentioned earlier. He also speaks very clearly in this talk in Las Vegas:
Kurtzgesagt
One of my favourite Youtube Channels is Kurtzgesagt. They also created amazing videos and animations on the topics of physics / the universe.
